Hi art lovers,
Our last post was about Authenticity. This one will be more about one of the foundations of Abstract Collectivism:
Imagination
Anyone can be an artist at any moment if they are willing to use their imagination.
But how?
Your imagination can take you to any place, anywhere of your choosing. But before we go to how you can use the methods of Abstract Collectivism to produce beautiful art pieces, let’s explain the role of the imagination in Abstract Collectivism.
There are many types of imagination, even though they are all related. Here we are talking about two :
1- Reproductive imagination
2- Creative imagination
Reproductive imagination is the representation of a missing object thanks to mental images.
Creative imagination is the ability to combine and rearrange thoughts and ideas to recreate original solutions.
However, many thinkers believe that creative imagination brings back reproductive imagination, but For Abstract Collectivism, creative imagination is not dependent on reproductive imagination. It is an entity apart.
After explaining our two types of imagination, let’s ask ourselves:
What is imagination in Abstract Collectivism?
It is a way to use, twist, arrange, and rearrange our minds to create. And since our imagination precedes our objective knowledge. We can only use it if we are willing to act, see, and imagine in a different dimension.
But our topic here is discussing something other than imagination and the many theories on it, like those of Sartre, Alain, Husserl, and the empiricists.
Here, we are talking about simply using our imagination to create.
But there is a controversy before we go further: if Create is to emerge something from nothing, like bringing back the unknown to the known. It will be almost impossible to use Abstract Collectivism because it does not evolve in a vacuum; the artist’s creative imagination is not an ex-nihilo creation. Artists find the elements of their creations in their environment and culture. They discover their passions, needs, collectivity, and the affective solicitations that inspire their creations.
Artists must appropriate, copy, imitate, and use some elements borrowed everywhere to create their world. The French author A. Malreaux, in “The Voices of Silence” (p312, Doubleday & Company 1953), said that artists started their career by imitating not nature but their masters:” Rembrandt spoke at first the language of Lastmannโฆ
Abstract Collectivism presents artists with an opportunity. When the present can’t offer artists anything, they can rely on it because it can take their imagination anywhere.
Abstract Collectivism will liberate artists’ imagination, a psychanalytic transfer that allows them to create.
Abstract Collectivism creates a climate for invention; artists need just their creative imagination.
Abstract Collectivism is imagination inseparable from intelligence, which means the aptitude to grab and define the relationships between things. It implies the dissociation of ancient mental synthesis to a new synthesis.
It would help if artists destroyed reality to create one. It is necessary to upset and reverse our intellectual habits and familiar concepts.
In Abstract Collectivism, there is a process in which artists use their imagination and intelligence to understand and find new shapes and forms. In their search, the artists will create a favorable ambiance for their intuition to flourish. It would be best if they had the free initiative to take any picture and, through their demarches, inventive create new things.
Don’t worry, even if we do not find any reference in our anterior culture to understand it. In the middle of the disorder, the chaos, there are serene and coherent forms beside the obscure puissance; the affectivity of the unconscious intelligence can find its place. That’s where we find ourselves in the new phase of Abstract Collectivism: The Appropriation effect.
